How To Select The Right Computer Network Solutions For IT Services

There will always be something new to deal with when you have a network of computers in your business. Whether you have three or thirty work stations, if there is a virus in your system, or when something goes wrong, you will want it fixed as soon as possible. If left unattended, a small problem in your network can easily escalate into a crisis, paralyzing the entire business. The right tech support company should acknowledge how frantic you can feel when your business is grounded to a halt because of a breakdown in the network.
A good network solution provider should work hard to minimize inconveniences that are prompted by network failures. But, how do you find the right computer network solutions for your business?
The first consideration that you need to make when searching for a computer network solution is the provider's ability to deliver a service that suits your business' needs. Never get hypnotized by the sales messages before understanding the nature of the network solution offered by the company. You need to be aware of your business' IT requirements before searching for solutions that will meet these requirements.
The other consideration that you need to make is the efficiency of the network solution. Never overlook information about the latest network specifications for your desired service. In addition, ensure that the network company has the latest infrastructure to deliver what you are looking for. You might want to contact the service provider's customers for an interview on their experience with the company.
Time is of great essence in the business world. Thus, a network support solution should have the right equipment to respond to any emergency that you may experience in your computer network. A cutting edge server and network support solution should also ensure that your network performs at its peak while resolving any maintenance issues efficiently through a series of proven methodologies. As a dedicated network solution, the service provider should also ensure that your network is secured against internal and external security threats.
The service level is another important factor that you need to consider when selecting the right network solution for your business. You want a service provider that offers a professional service without straining your budget. In addition, the provider should be able to provide training to your staff on how to use your business network in an efficient manner. It would be great if the network solution you settle for is capable of responding to your business' growing needs.
Finally, the cost of the network solution is another important consideration that you need to make. While this should not be the sole determining factor, you need to ensure that you get value for your money. Before contracting any network service provider, be sure to do your research in order to have an idea of the average market rates for this service.
With today's advancements in technology, professional network support is essential to the success of any business. Thus, one of the most important decisions that you can make for your business is the right choice of IT services. With the right network solution, you can enjoy quality services in a timely and efficient manner while shifting your energy to your business' core functions.

What Is Web Based Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Software?

Web Based OCR Software is an important tool for most businesses today. Abbreviated to OCR, Optical Character Recognition is now easier than ever and helps companies arrange and correctly store their data.
What is OCR Software?
This refers to the electronic or mechanical conversion of images to machine-encoded text. The images are typically scanned and can be originally handwritten, typewritten or printed. Simply put, OCR is an effective and efficient way of digitizing textual data from an outside or hard output such as paper.
What is it used for?
Web Based OCR Software is currently being used in numerous industries. Practical application of the program may be noticed in various situations such as the digitizing of sales receipt, mails, important business documents or practically any printed record that needs to be encoded through the computer. With the help of OCR, businesses can efficiently and speedily create soft data for compact storage. Although older versions of OCR needed to be programmed in order to accurately function, the newer models have been developed to perfection. This "intelligent" system is fully capable of accurately recognizing fonts and even replicating non-textual symbols such as lines, columns and other components of the document.
What's interesting about using Web Based OCR Software is the fact that it isn't just limited to one language. Developers have managed to create a sophisticated system that makes it possible for users to digitize documents written in different languages. Some types can also handle different file formats as well as convert them into different digital files depending on the needs of the company.
Why is this Important?
Of course, some companies may argue that OCR is basically like having an online transcriptionist. Compared to having an actual person digitize documents however, Optical Character Recognition Software is much more efficient. For one thing, it manages to converts image-texts into digital text in a matter of seconds. While scanning, the software efficiently converts the images to computer-generated text and then efficiently paves the way for digital saving. Through manual transcription however, the process will be slower and less accurate.
The use of the program can also severely cut back on the expenses of a company. Some programs allow a per-use charge which means that payment will only be necessary whenever the program is used. For companies that need the service often however, they can sign up for monthly or even yearly contracts for a fixed price. Depending on how often this software can be used, companies are given the chance to cut back on their expenses while still maintaining excellent - or better -data recovery and storage system.
When it comes right down to it, the use of Web Based OCR Software is an important component to the data accumulation and storage of a company. Keep in mind though that there are multiple businesses today that provide this type of service. This is why as much as possible, companies are advised to browse through as many providers as possible before deciding what is the best program to use for their data collection.

It's Time for a Technology Refresh

Computer hardware these days has about a 3 to 5 year lifecycle. At the end of that lifecycle, the computer is replaced with a brand new shiny one. When you first got that computer, it ran great. Software was installed, updated and upgraded, and new hardware and gizmos and gadgets were brought into the mix. After a few years of that process repeating itself, your computer starts to run noticeably slower - primarily due to the new software and gadgets and gizmos you're running on it (For the geeks out there, this falls under Moore's Law).
The same principle holds true for any technology you use on a daily basis. Every couple of years, it's vitally important to take a fresh look at what you have set up. Is Salesforce configured properly for how you're conducting business today? Is your website properly optimized for not only how you do business, but how the search engines are working today? Is your business taking advantage of the latest in Social Networking? Are there plans, processes and procedures used on a daily basis that need a new outlook?
Software based technology is often overlooked when it comes to technology refreshes. Some people will often mistakenly file software and hosted solutions under the proverbial "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" category. Sadly, this can lead to lost time, lost productivity, unhappy personnel, extra hours, more frustrations, and in the end, lost revenue.
In almost every company doing business online today, the tools, systems, policies, and procedures they have been working with over the past few years need refreshing. Here's how to tell if your company needs a technology refresh:
1. Have you been using the same software based system for over a year?
2. Do you find yourself struggling to get reports done at the end of each quarter?
3. Are there more than 3 functions in your system that you are completely unfamiliar with?
4. Can you identify at least two "information silos" - where a single person holds all the knowledge on how to perform the particular task?
5. Can you pinpoint the decision made to use the particular technology?
6. Do you need to change the final results of your technology in order to better make use of it? (File format, ordering, number formatting, fonts, etc)
7. Is the process of using your technology so daunting that when you do use it, you rely on a "cheat sheet"?
8. Is the technology you use a closed system that has no way of sharing its information with other technology you use on a daily basis?
9. Has your business model changed in the last 12 to 18 months?
10. Has your company undergone a major shift in other areas? (Personnel, Hardware, Locations, Product, Services?)
If you can answer "yes" to any ONE QUESTION above, your company needs a technology refresh. Choosing to Ignore the signs that your business needs a technology refresh will only ultimately result in lost revenue on some level. If you did have a "yes" answer to any of the preceding ten questions, now is the time to find a technology partner you can trust to give you an honest review of systems, policies, procedures, software, and any other technology your business is currently using. Now is the time to make sure your website is interacting seamlessly with your CRM; that your CRM is interacting seamlessly with your workflow process; that your workflow process is integrating seamlessly with your personnel. Now is the time for your technology refresh.

How To Speed Up Your Computer in 5 Quick Steps

Are you wondering how to speed up your computer?
Unless your computer is obviously ancient, there's really no need to go out and buy a brand new computer. There's tons of simple maintenance tasks and hardware upgrades that you can do yourself within minutes that can get your system running as fast as possible. Here's how to speed up your computer right now with five of the most powerful methods listed below.
1 - Upgrade the Operating System (32-bit or 64-bit)
It's always best to have the latest operating system edition installed on your computer to ensure you also have the latest security and speed improvements. All operating systems come in either 32-bit or 64-bit system types, and 64-bit system types allow a lot more room to add extra RAM as opposed to 32-bit system types which typically have a maximum RAM limit of 4GB. You may want to keep this in mind if you decide to add extra RAM to your computer later, a 64-bit operating system is the way to go.
2 - Add a Solid State Drive (SSD)
Some computers use a hard disk drive as the default storage device on the computer. Although hard disk drives work fine, solid state drives are much faster and more reliable. This is because solid state drives eliminate file fragmenting, they come without any moving parts such as spinning discs or a read/write head, and are the standard laptop drive size (2.5") fitting into both laptop and desktop computers.
A solid state drive can access and load data much faster because data is stored in one easy to access place as opposed to being stored in fragments with hard disk drives. With a solid state drive you'll never have to worry about defragmenting the hard drive ever again.
3 - Eliminate Unnecessary Startup Services
If you find yourself wondering how to speed up your computer as your system is starting up you may be able to reduce the startup time significantly by simply eliminating many unnecessary startup processes. You can do this by accessing your systems startup folder and removing processes that you don't need to run as soon as your computer starts. Keep in mind eliminating startup processes will not remove them entirely from your computer, but only prevent them from running as your system starts up which can tremendously slow down the startup time.
To quickly eliminate unnecessary startup services using Microsoft Windows, you can use the keyboard short 'Windows key + R' to launch Run, type in 'msconfig' and hit Enter to open the System Configuration Window, and finally select the Startup tab at the top. Uncheck any services in this list that you can safely identify as unnecessary. The more items that you can safely uncheck in this list, the faster your system will startup.
4 - Add Extra RAM (Random Access Memory)
Your system may be able to handle a lot more RAM then what's currently installed. If you're wondering how to speed up your computer because your system can't run lots of programs at once, adding more RAM may be the solution. The more RAM your computer has, the faster your system will run and the more programs you can run at once without any problems. Adding extra RAM to your computer or laptop is incredibly simple even if you've never worked with computer hardware before. No data is ever permanently stored on RAM allowing you to safely upgrade and replace existing RAM without any worries.
Before you can add additional RAM to your computer, you'll need to know exactly how much RAM your system can support. To quickly tell how much RAM your system currently has as well as the maximum RAM limit for your system, you can run the Crucial system scanner at http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner.
5 - Re-install the Operating System
Sometimes completely re-installing the operating system is just what your system needs to regain its top performance. To do this you'll need an installation disk for your operating system. If you're going to completely erase all previous data and files and re-install the operating system, make sure that you first backup any important data before proceeding. If your computer is running slow because you have way to many junk files and too much clutter, it may be a great idea to save any important files and erase everything else by completely re-installing the operating system.

Ways You Can Use Video Conferencing

Having worked in Web development and marketing for over ten years - well before even Google existed - I have seen how this industry changes. New innovations in communication have made it easier for us to contact people on the other side of the world in real time, and while we don't have flying cars yet we should be amazed at some of the things we can accomplish at home. When I was younger I used to go with my family to EPCOT Center and view all the "futuristic" exhibits that proposed what the future could be like. I'm starting to see some of it now, and video conferencing is one thing that has become more commonplace thank to the technology.
In my line of work, video conferencing is helpful when meeting with a client based in another city. Using the right software, we can carry on a real-time discussion of events and plan development of projects as though we were all in the same room. You may think that video conferencing is limited only for business use, when in fact the technology serves multiple purposes. Here are just a few way you can make it work for you:
Educational: Let's say you want to teach a workshop or class. Maybe you're teaching rudimentary Spanish or algebra, anything that would necessitate bringing a group together. You can expand your student base by offering classes online, and video conferencing technology allows you to teach a class and interact with students. Set up a camera to see students and use software that lets you display presentations and worksheets as you teach.
Promotional: One thing I've noticed among author friends is that virtual book clubs are becoming more popular. If you want to gather readers from around the country to discuss a book or writing technique, you can set up a time to talk via video. This can work for other promotional opportunities as well, if you wish to demonstrate products or brainstorm with a team for marketing ideas.
Personal: These days you probably don't get the family together as often as you'd like. Why not set up some time where everybody can get together and chat? You can share vacation photos and catch up, and all you need is access to the right conferencing software to make it happen.
We may not yet be to the point where we are projecting holograms to communicate with one another, but video conferencing is a good first step toward simple global communication. The potential for its use is endless.
